The Client

Founded in 2000, iLumen provides proprietary technology delivered through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) architecture that seamlessly automates the collection, standardization, analysis and benchmarking of financial and credit data across the portfolio and to the user desktop. The on-demand technology is used to deliver sensitive financial information to financial institutions, accounting firms and industry associations.

To provide financial benchmarking and analysis information, iLumen must solve the pervasive problem of accessing and consolidating different sets of customer data that exists in disconnected data silos. To achieve this, iLumen builds data connectors to core internal or vendor systems to collect and transfer data into a sophisticated relational database, which creates a single repository of relevant customer data. Once there, data is consolidated and standardized to be utilized on desktops firmwide by financial analysts.

With many opportunities on the horizon, iLumen is quickly growing, and when technology opportunities surfaced in non-core areas, Loren Eckart, executive vice president and co-founder of iLumen, began looking to outsource non-core development to experienced integration partners who could quickly connect to third-party systems to decrease time-to-market.

The Challenge.

iLumen strives to be a data collection engine to deliver accurate and timely customer data to enable efficiency, business intelligence and competitive advantage. In order to publish financial data into a comprehensive system for the end-user, iLumen needed data connectors to build a bridge between the customer’s source system and iLumens’s SaaS architecture.

Furthermore, the sheer volume of its clients’ disparate customer data, derived from countless financial transactions, added another variable to the already complicated equation. Without a staff of custom data integration developers, iLumen was beset with trying to configure and deliver the necessary application programming interface (API) into its clients’ individual and unique hosted data centers.

The Solution.

iLumen knew that the right technology partner would allow them to develop the connection with disparate third-party systems in a timely and cost-effective manner. Ultimately, iLumen selected Premier Logic, an application development and consulting company, to develop, integrate and deploy complex data connectors with the corresponding host data centers.

Within two short months, Eckart determined that Premier Logic was by far the most experienced and qualified provider to address iLumen’s technological need. Citing the company’s history of successful engagements with two of the "Big Four" accounting firms, Eckart noted that Premier Logic, "not only brought invaluable domain expertise to the table, but their unique and flexible approach was exactly what we needed."

iLumen originally engaged Premier Logic on a project basis for custom systems integration, but Eckart quickly realized that Premier Logic’s expertise and flexibility could be leveraged for ongoing application deployment and support. Because of the complexity in this project’s deployment, iLumen allowed Premier Logic to work directly with its customers, customizing application deployment behind each client’s firewalls and overseeing configuration issues.

The Results.

According to Eckart, Premier Logic’s seamless integration efforts between iLumen’s SaaS architecture and source systems quickly paid off. In less than six months, Premier Logic expanded iLumen’s platform and paved the way for more efficient delivery of financial data to financial institutions, accounting firms and industry associations.
